No. It is more cost effective to pay for a block of classes, and perhaps adds an incentive to continue with a course of classes. However you can pay to drop in if, for example, you know you will miss a number of sessions in a course for holidays or other reasons.
Feel free to come along to another class in the term of classes you have paid for, but please let me know that you would like to do this as it will be subject to a suitable level and availability. Apologies, but missed classes cannot be carried over to another term of classes.
Beginner/Improver level
This class is suitable for those who are new to Pilates; have had a break and are wanting to get back into it or have done Pilates for many years but wish to work at a slower pace. Everyone is welcome at this level.
Intermediate level
This class is suitable for those who are quite experienced at Pilates and are confident with looking after their own body safely in class. It is a challenging level and so it is not suitable for people with osteoporosis or injuries.
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily. Non-slip socks such as Toesox are also good to wear or go barefoot.
Please bring a Pilates mat, ideally 15mm thick, a small towel for cushioning and water. Please also feel free to bring any small equipment you might have at home, such as a small spikey ball (tennis ball size) for under foot massage, 2 x 1kg hand weights, a theraband and a 7" softball. We use this type of small equipment each week so you can bring your own, but I do have some equipment you can use if you don't have your own. Many people like to have their own equipment for hygiene reasons and so that they can continue with Pilates at home in between classes.
Pilates has become an important part of my life over the last 15 years and I am so pleased that Claire has been my teacher since 2017. Her classes are a real pleasure, combining great care and attention to one's physical needs as well as providing a safe, happy, friendly and positive environment. During each class the exercises are firstly expertly demonstrated, and then Claire clearly and in depth cues the exercise, talking about posture, stretching, breath and which muscles to activate and to which degree.
As well as the proactive exercises to maintain/improve one's physical well being, Claire will always provide helpful advice for dealing with lifes' aches and pains which come along now and again. Where appropriate she is then willing to incorporate additional appropriate exercises into the class.
Whether you are a beginner or someone who has already experienced the benefits of Pilates, I have no hesitation in recommending Claire as an outstanding Pilates teacher.
Claire offers a calm, but fun environment during our pilates sessions, she brings a wealth of knowledge, patience and variety to the classes. I’ve always very much enjoyed my weekly hour at pilates, feeling comfortable at working at my own level of capability with support and guidance from Claire. Following major surgery Claire helped me tremendously with my recovery, allowing me to return to a good level of fitness, she has fantastic observation and communication skills with a real genuine interest in sharing her pilates knowledge with others. It's a shame I don’t have time to attend additional classes as they are of great benefit!
I have been attending Pilates and Buff Bones sessions with Claire since she took over from a previous instructor seven years ago. In that time I have thoroughly enjoyed every session! Claire always plans each session in advance, explains which muscles to be ‘employing’, and the benefits of each exercise and sessions are fun! Whilst always pre planning sessions, Claire is also able to change exercises to suit the needs of individuals within a class. Claire is professional, extremely knowledgeable, explains exercises clearly as well as demonstrating, moves around the class gently checking out and is very encouraging. I personally have felt very supported and ‘safe’ within each session and really feel and recognise the benefits of each session. I look forward to every session and really miss not being able to attend, both for the exercising and the social contact of the class. Claire totally outclasses all my previous Pilates’s teachers and I am so grateful that I can attend her classes.

Pilates is a discipline which ranges from the gentle to the seriously active, depending on what you want to make of it. Moreover, it is appropriate to all ages and abilities. Furthermore you can rest assured that she also keeps a close eye on each participant during the class to make sure that, if necessary, exercises can be further modified to suit each person’s needs and / or limitations.
